About our Appleton masonry contractor business

Who we are, how we work and what happens after you get in touch about your brick, stone or concrete.

How I came to masonry in Appleton

I spent my first working years at a desk in an office, and I left because I wanted to build things with my hands that would still be standing long after I'd finished. I learned masonry by working under experienced masons around Appleton, and in 2013 I started Heritage Appleton Concrete and Masonry.

We're best known for careful mortar work on older brick and stone homes, and we also build walls, walkways, driveways and fireplaces. Most of our calls come from homeowners who've noticed crumbling joints, a cracked foundation or a chimney that needs attention, and the right answer usually depends on what the brick, the mortar and the ground under it are actually doing.

Thirteen years on, I still come out to look at the job myself and write the estimate. Our crew of experienced masons does the work, and I check it as it goes, so the person who plans your job is the one who looks it over at the end. I'm grateful to every homeowner who trusts us with their house.

What you can count on when we work

These are the things I'd want from a mason if it were my own house. They come from how I learned the trade and from what older brick and stone need.

Honest advice sized to the house

When I look at a crack or a crumbling joint, I'll point to it and explain in plain words what's causing it and what I'd recommend. If a smaller repair will do the job properly, that's what we'll suggest, and you won't be pushed into more work than your house needs.

Materials that suit your house

New work should fit in with old brick and stone instead of fighting it. That means the right mortar for the brick it sits between, the right base under a walkway or driveway, and the right material for how it'll be used, which matters in a place that sees about 49 inches of snow in a typical year.

Permit paperwork handled for you

Whether a job needs a permit is up to the local office, so we check with them before work starts. In Appleton, building permits come from the city's Inspection Division. When a job needs one, we pull it ourselves and keep the paperwork in order, so you aren't left sorting it out on your own.

What happens from your first call

Here is how a job usually goes with us, from the moment you reach out to the day you look over the finished work. Each step has a reason behind it.

  1. 1

    Call or send a message

Call (920) 454-9038 or use our contact form to tell us what you've noticed. We reply to calls and messages within one business day and set a time for me to come out.

  2. 2

    Walk the job together

I come to your home, look at the brick, stone or concrete with you and write down what we'd do and why. The estimate is free, done in person and comes with no obligation.

  3. 3

Let our crew do the work

Once you decide to go ahead, we check on any permit the job needs and plan around the weather, since mortar and concrete need the right conditions to set. Our masons do the work, and I check it as it goes.

  4. 4

    Look over the finished job

When the work is done and the site is cleaned up, I walk it with you so you can see it for yourself, and I'll explain how to care for it through the seasons ahead. Satisfaction guaranteed.
